Classic Flyers to kick off the year with an exciting Aero Day
Kicking off the new year will be Classic Flyers’ second annual ‘Aero Day’. This Saturday 18th of January, Classic Flyers at Tauranga Airport will host numerous exciting aircraft for a thrilling day of aviation displays that you won’t want to miss!

During the action packed day, there will be both ground displays with warbirds spitting out tames as well as high octane flying displays.
In the air, two iconic NZ airshow display teams will soar to the sky wi the billowing aerobatic smoke. These formation teams are the popular Roaring Forties Harvard display team and the NZ Yak Red Stars flying a colourful group of Yak 52s.
Along with the formation displays, the Biggin Hill Trust, based at RNZAF Base Ohakea will show off a Supermarine Spitfire labelled ‘PV270’, a newly restored P-51 Mustang originally registered as ‘NZ2423’, and the large Grumman Avenger affectionately known as ‘Plonky’.
Joins the WW2 fighters from the Biggin Hill Trust will be NZ’s only actively flying FG-1D Corsair, ‘NZ5648’.
All of these flying displays are sure to turn the event into one you won’t want to miss.

On the ground, multiple aircraft will be on show for visitors to get up-close with and also perform ground runs where the engines of numerous vintage aircraft are sprung to life; maybe even with some exciting flames.
Also on the ground will be several tasty food stalls to quench your hunger.

Thought the day, Air Chathams’ DC3, ‘Skyliner Kaitaia’ will be operating scenic flights around the stunning Mt Maunganui and surrounding coast.
