Qantas will soon operate flights between Adelaide and Auckland
Qantas has announced plans to offer a new non-stop service between Auckland and Adelaide. The airline will fly the route four times per week using a Boeing 737-800, commencing October 31, 2025.
Origin Air to pull out of Wellington to Taupo route after just three months
Originair has cancelled its Taupō to Wellington service, leaving the central North Island city without any direct flights to the capital. The Nelson-based airline only recently started flying the route in February after Sounds Air had to axe the service do to financial pressure.
Qantas to restart Perth to Auckland flights
From later this year, Qantas will begin flying between Perth and Auckland, in direct competition with Air New Zealand. Qantas has also added new flights from Perth to Johannesburg, South Africa.
Adelaide will become first destination to welcome Emirates’ “long range” A350
Starting late this year, Emirates will begin flying their brand new Airbus A350s non-stop between Dubai and Adelaide. This route will be Emirates’ first “long haul“ flight for the A350ULR.

Vietjet announces direct flights connecting Vietnam and New Zealand
Today, Vietjet announced that from September 2025, they will commence non-stop flights between Ho Chi Minh City and Auckland. The route will be operated using Vietjets fleet of 7 A330-300s.
Avalon Airshow set to soar
In late March this year, the biennial airshow, Avalon International Airshow will return to the skies above Avalon, near Melbourne. The airshow last took to the skies in 2023 after a series of cancellations due to the COVID pandemic.
Air NZ charter flight to Las Vegas takes off carrying Warriors fans
Last night, an Air New Zealand charter flight took off from Auckland heading to Las Vegas carrying Warriors fans. The special flight for NRL fans sold out in just 17 minutes after tickets were put up for sale.
RNZAF to land a C-130H Hercules at retired Air Force base Wigram
At the end of January, the RNZAF retired their fleet of five C-130H Hercules. Rumours of one Hercules landing at the Air Force Museum of New Zealand were confirmed today via a Facebook post and letters sent to local residents.

Origin Air replaces Sounds Air on flights to Westport and Taupo
Amid rising costs, Sounds Air dropped flights between Wellington and Westport as well as Wellington and Taupo. Managing director Andrew Crawford said while demand for flights was strong, costs to operate the flight were too high.

Starlink inflight wifi becomes available for ATR aircraft
ATR Aircraft confirmed on Tuesday that they have gained certification to implement Starlink inflight wifi onboard ATR turboprop aircraft. The upgrade will be available as a retrofit on all ATR 72s.
