Fiji Airways receives new Airbus A350s

Fiji Airways is expanding to new horizons with their two brand-new A350-900 aircraft.

Fiji Airways has taken a huge step forward in its journey towards excellence, as it recently welcomed two brand-new Airbus A350-900 aircraft, registered as DQ-FAM and DQ-FAN. The two aircraft will join the airline's existing two A350s registered as DQ-FAI and DQ-FAJ. This marks a significant milestone for the airline.

The delivery of DQ-FAM, the first of the two new A350's, arrived in Nadi at 2 PM today, Tuesday the 15th of August. The A350 is equipped with cutting edge technology and is one of the most fuel efficient aircraft in the world.

Andre Viljoen, the CEO of Fiji Airways, stated that as a member of Oneworld, the airline has made significant efforts to modernize its fleet since 2017. He highlighted that the introduction of new-generation aircraft like the A350 has positioned them more robustly to consider new destinations.

The airline also said that they would significantly increase capacity on existing routes across the pacific and beyond, such as Nadi to Melbourne, Sydney, Auckland, Hong Kong, San Francisco and Vancouver. And therefore, adding up to 30,000 extra seats per month.

Among these, possible destinations include Dallas, Seattle, Beijing, Shanghai, Seoul and Noumea.

The A350-900 is a ultra long haul aircraft that has a maximum range of up to 9,700nm. Its sleek design allows for a high tech and intelligent airframe, coupled with unparalleled aerodynamics which allows the aircraft to fly such long distances.

Fiji Airways’ A350s are fitted with 33 flat business seats and 301 standard economy seats. The airline offers passengers their AVANT inflight entertainment system featuring entertainment on demand with various movie and television program options at every seat. Fiji Airways also provides passengers with access to the internet on-board their A350s.
