The busy North America - Auckland sector, Part one

Over the 2023-24 summer season, the North America - Auckland sector is shaping up to be quite busy. Lets take a deeper dive into the route.

Vancouver to Auckland.

From October 29th, Canada’s flagship airline, Air Canada, will resume flying their fourteen-hour flight from their hub in Vancouver to the City of Sails. Flight AC39 & 40 will be operated by a wifi equipped Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner. Air Canada’s 787-9s offer a multitude of inflight amenities such as audio, video, power, internet and food. Air Canada offers video on Demand with personal touchscreen TVs at every seat. The 787 is configured into three classes; Business Class Suites, Premium Economy, and Standard Economy. AC39 departs Canada at 23:45 (local time) on Sundays, Wednesdays and Fridays. It arrives in Auckland at 09:55 (local time) two days later on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays. The return, AC40 departs Auckland bound for Vancouver at 13:00 (local time) on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays. The thirteen-hour flight later lands in Canada at 06:10 (local time) the same day.

Currently, Air New Zealand flies between Vancouver and Auckland every day except Thursday. Flight NZ23 & 24 is operated by a seat-back-entertainment equipped Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner. The aircraft, a Boeing 787-9 offers multiple inflight amenities such as audio, video, power and food. Each seat features a personal touchscreen monitor with Business and Premium Economy featuring 11" monitors, and Economy Class featuring 9" monitors. The 787 is configured into three classes; Business Premier, Premium Economy, and Economy. NZ23 departs Canada at 20:55 (local time) every day except Thursdays when the flight doesn’t operate. It arrives in Auckland at 05:45 (local time) two days later on every day but Saturdays. The reverse, NZ24 departs Auckland bound for Vancouver at 20:05 (local time) daily, minus Thursdays. The thirteen-hour flight later lands in Canada at 14:05 (local time) the same day.

San Fransisco to Auckland.

United Airlines currently flies between San Fransisco to Auckland on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. The route is operated by United’s Boeing 777-200. Their 777-200s offer several inflight amenities such as music, video, power, internet and food. Seatback on-demand entertainment is also available for all passengers. The 777-200 is configured into four classes; United Polaris business, Premium Plus, Economy Plus and Economy. Flight UA917 departs San Francisco bound for Auckland at 23:10 (local time). The flight later lands in Auckland at 08:10 (local time) the next day on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays. The return, flight UA916 departs the City of Sails, Auckland on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays at 14:50 and then lands in SFO at 07:00 after the twelve-hour flight on the same day.

Currently, Air New Zealand flies between San Fransisco and Auckland every day except Wednesdays and Thursdays. Flight NZ7 & 8 is operated by a state-of-the-art Boeing 777-300ER. The aircraft, a Boeing 777 offers multiple inflight amenities such as audio, video, wifi, power and food. Each seat features a personal video screen and OnDemand video. The 777 is configured into three classes; Business Premier, Premium Economy, and Economy. NZ7 departs SFO at 20:45 (local time) every day except Wednesdays and Thursdays when the flight doesn’t operate. It arrives in Auckland at 05:50 (local time) two days later on every day but Fridays and Saturdays. The reverse, NZ8 departs Auckland bound for San Fransisco at 19:55 (local time) daily, minus Wednesdays and Thursdays. The thirteen-hour flight later lands in the Golden Gate City at 12:05 (local time) the same day.

Los Angeles to Auckland.

From October 28th, Delta Airlines will begin flying between Los Angeles to Auckland daily. The route will be operated by Delta’s modern fleet of Airbus A350-900s. Delta’s A350s offer several inflight amenities such as music, video, power, internet and food. Seatback on-demand entertainment is available for all passengers. The A350s are configured into three classes; Delta One, Delta Premium Select and Economy. Flight DL65 departs Los Angeles bound for Auckland at 23:35 (local time). The flight later lands in Auckland at 08:10 (local time) two days later. The return, flight UA916 departs the City of Sails, Auckland on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays at 14:50 and then lands in SFO at 07:00 after the twelve-hour flight on the same day.

From December 20th, American Airlines will resume their 13-hour and 35-minute flight from Los Angeles to the Tāmaki Makaurau. Flight AA 83 & 82 will be operated by a wifi equipped Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner. American Airlines’ 787-9s offer multiple inflight amenities such as audio, video, power, internet and food. American Airlines provides video on Demand with personal touchscreen TVs at every seat. The 787 is configured into four classes; Business Class, Premium Economy, Main Cabin Extra, and Main Cabin. AA83 departs LAX at 23:50 (local time) Daily. It then arrives in Auckland at 10:25 (local time) two days later. The return, AA82 departs Auckland bound for Los Angeles at 15:50 (local time) daily from December 22nd. The flight later lands in America at 06:55 (local time) the same day.

From October 28th, United Airlines will begin flying between Los Angeles to Auckland on Saturday, Monday and Thursday. The route will be operated by United’s modern fleet of Boeing 787-9s. United’s 787s offer several inflight amenities such as music, video, power, internet and food. Seatback on-demand entertainment is available for all passengers. The 787s are configured into three classes; United Polaris, Economy Plus and Economy. Flight UA642 departs Los Angeles bound for Auckland at 21:00 (local time) on Mon, Thur and Sat. The flight 13-hour and 25-minute flight then lands in Auckland at 06:25 (local time) two days later. The return, flight UA943 departs Auckland on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays at 15:40 and then lands in Los Angeles at 08:00 after the almost fourteen-hour flight on the same day.

Both aircraft offer multiple inflight amenities such as audio, video, wifi, power and food. Each seat features a personal video screen and OnDemand video. The aircraft are configured into three classes; Business Premier, Premium Economy, and Economy. NZ5 departs LAX at 21:00 (local time) every day. It arrives in Auckland at 06:00 (local time) two days later every day. The reverse, NZ6 departs Auckland bound for San Fransisco at 20:15 (local time) daily. The thirteen-hour flight later lands in Los Angeles at 12:20 (local time) the same day.

The second flight, NZ3, departs LAX at 22:00 (local time) on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. It arrives in Auckland at 07:00 (local time) two days later on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. The reverse, NZ4 departs Auckland bound for Los Angeles at 23:35 (local time) Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. The flight then lands at 15:40 (local time) the same day.
